Meet Sacred Place
Sacred Place United Church was born out of a one hundred year old church in the United Church of Christ in the area of Rancho Cucamonga, CA. The launch team spent more than two years casting the vision of what would become Sacred Place with the first half of 2019 listening to the Spirit for where a vision of justice, inclusion, and family was needed most. Their mission is to create a just world where ALL are included in the family of God, one Sacred Place at a time.
How We Partner With Them
Aaron first met Pastor Matthew Redrich in a Twitter exchange. He and his staff then joined us for our first Rest Retreat in Scottsdale, AZ in March 2020. As the pandemic unfolded, Matthew and SP became one of our first coaching partners. Four years later, we are still helping them discern and strategize leadership development, strategic planning, worship design, community partnerships, outreach and more. In the past year, we coached them into a new leadership model and are thrilled to see one member of the community, Bryan Jones, step into leadership alongside Matthew. Bryan is now entering seminary to explore his call into formal ministry.
How They Partner With Us
In April 2021, Sacred Place started supporting Launchpad as a Guiding Partner, helping to fund and support new inclusive communities launching across the country. They are an example of a small community with a strong vision that is learning what it means to “relaunch” coming out of the Covid-19 era. We’re thankful for their commitment to coaching, attending our retreats, and investing in the work of Launchpad in every way possible.
Sacred Place’s values and vision statement are an excellent example of how one small community can have a big impact. Thanks to the sale of their building, Sacred Place is in a position to have a financial impact on their community and our movement. They’re currently in the process of listening and discerning how to generously partner with folks on the ground in their city to be a space that gives voice and creates healing for the LGBTQ+ individuals and families in their mostly conservative area. We’re excited to support them as they navigate new ways to be radically generous.
